Mari Inouye
Stability coach for athletes who perform on unstable ground.
World Equestrian Games gold medalist. Grew up on Kauai. Trained in gymnastics, vaulting, and movement science. Now helping athletes — riders and surfers alike — master the moving surface beneath them.
Coach · trainer · athlete
Before you can master an unstable surface, you have to master yourself.
Mari's workshops and classes are built on one core principle: the body must learn stability, coordination, and confident movement on the ground before it can find freedom on an unpredictable surface. She is one of the rare coaches who has lived — and won — at the elite level in multiple athletic worlds, and she brings that depth into every session she teaches.
Train the body. Trust the movement. Own the surface.
What i train
Proprioception & dynamic balance
Training the nervous system to read and respond to unpredictable, shifting ground — the core demand of both surfing and riding.
Ride the barrel
Meet the Vaulting Moving Barrel — a trainer that moves with you. By mimicking the natural sway of a horse or shifting ground beneath your feet, it challenges your balance, strengthens your body, and elevates your cross-training like nothing else.
What i train
Functional mobility & stability
Hip, core, and ankle work rooted in gymnastics and FMS methodology. Mobility with a purpose — performance in the saddle and on the board.
from athletes to organizations
Beyond her work with individual athletes, Mari has brought her performance methodology to some of the world's most recognized organizations. She has partnered with and trained onsite employees at US Equestrian, FEI, Nike, Clorox, Hurley, Facebook, LinkedIn, EA Sports, and more — helping teams move better, feel stronger, and perform with greater confidence both on and off the field. Her approach translates across industries because the fundamentals never change: build stability, develop body awareness, and train the whole person.
